Please remember, if you would like to join our ‘all-comers’ band, there are no auditions: you just turn up with your instrument (whatever it is), you’re made very welcome - and you’re in the band, it’s as simple as that. New members are always welcome, regardless of musical ability, age or experience. Our rehearsal dates are listed above if you want to come and join us, or maybe just drop in and listen. About Us
Whether you play flute, violin, guitar, bass, keyboard, banjo, trumpet, saxophone, drums, a percussion instrument or a kazoo, everyone is welcome to join in our Tuesday night community music sessions. Our experienced musical director Martin Entwistle will find something for you to play which suits your abilities. So don’t be shy: take a deep breath, talk a friend into coming along too, and let’s make some sweet music together!
We started off in November 2010 and now have a pool of around 20 people. The band has decided to keep things varied and play a mixture of musical styles. Instruments include keyboards, percussion, electric and acoustic guitars, brass, woodwind and strings. We have a lovely age range from early teenage through to retirement, everyone has a great time playing together and the atmosphere is supportive and encouraging - proof that it really doesn't matter what standard you are, it's the taking part that counts.
Sessions are weekly on Tuesday nights, 7pm - 9.30pm at St. Nicolas Church, Main Road, Downderry (opposite the school) during school term times.
A small charge per session is made to cover Martin's expenses and the modest hire cost of the hall. Light refreshments are provided. Please bring your own instrument plus amplification, leads and stands if required, all in safe working order.
